my first post
my first post
as I embark on an intellectually rigorous 18-month journey (I've never scored well on disciplines relating to the humanities) I thought penning down my thoughts and reflections would help me track my growth and also clarify thinking.
what I read:

takeaways:
always go back to Why. without going back to first principles, solutions are likely superficial and might not endure, persist as they might not solve the problem at its core. this reminds me of an interview with Indy Johar where he articulates how climate change is a symptom of a failure, not the failure itself, of underlying structures by which the world is built on — our economies are designed to externalise costs. and these costs are terminating us because of how significant they are. root issue: how do we reimagine our relationship with the world? he also touches upon how our current worldview is built on humans having dominion over the world, resulting in separation and individuation.
understanding psychology is extremely important. unsurprising. our perception is coloured by experiences - culture, trauma, mental models we’ve learned and picked up - understanding how others perceive and are therefore motivated will allow us to get closer to the truth, or essence, of a situation.
